JAMMU, Jan 23: Jammu and Kashmir reached 150 for 6 in 60 overs in their first innings against Puducherry’s total of 233, trailing by 83 runs with four wickets in hand at the close of play on Day two of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match at the Siechem Stadium Puducherry.
Resuming from an overnight score of 0/0, J&K lost wickets at regular intervals and were unable to build substantial partnerships as Puducherry bowlers applied consistent pressure. Bad light forced an early end to play.
Shubham Khajuria top-scored with a patient 46 off 107 balls, including five boundaries. Kanhaiya Wadhawan added 30 runs off 56 balls, while Dikshant Kundal contributed 17 off 93 deliveries with three fours. Abdul Samad remained unbeaten on 40 off 57 balls, striking six boundaries and was accompanied by Abid Mushtaq, who was unbeaten on one at stumps.
For Puducherry, Sagar P Udeshi and Gaurav Yadav picked up two wickets each, while Puneet Datey and Aman Khan claimed one wicket apiece. On Day One, J&K bowlers had produced a disciplined performance to restrict Puducherry to 233. Opener Ajay Rohera top-scored with 94 runs off 211 balls. Sunil Kumar and Yudhvir Singh took three wickets each, Vanshaj Sharma claimed two, and Aquib Nabi and Abid Mushtaq chipped in with one wicket each.
