Jammu runners shine in Delhi Half Marathon

JAMMU, Oct 13: A strong contingent of runners from Jammu represented the region at the prestigious Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon (VDHM) 2025, showcasing endurance and sportsmanship across both the 21 km and 10 km categories. Manminder Kour emerged as a standout performer, clinching first place in her age category by completing the half marathon in an impressive 1 hour 39 minutes, inspiring women runners from Jammu.
In the 21 km category, male runners included Ajay Gandotra, Sudhir Anand, Abhishake Gupta, Abhishek Gautam, Anil Katoch, Om Parkash Sharma, Surinder Singh, Sahil Choudhary, Arun Kapoor, Rajesh Koul, Rohit Balhotra, Antarjami Sharma, Subash Kumar, Nipun Sharma, Aakash, Rakesh Raina, Bheesham Gupta, Sajad Haider, Bhanu Pratap, Rahul Talwar, Vijay Singh, Kannav Sharma, Anshuman Verma, Chandeep Singh, Jaideep Jamwal, Naresh Sikarwar and Vishavdeep Singh. Female participants were Manminder Kour and Simmi Sikarwar.
In the 10 km race, male runners included Vijay Sharma, Sandeep Sawhney, Wasim Kohli and Farhat Raza, while female runners were Sonia Sawhney, Shweta Mittal, Pratiksha Raghuvanshi, Sandeep Kaur and Asha Chandan. The event strengthened Jammu’s running culture, fostering unity and fitness among athletes.
Several runners achieved personal best timings and cherished the experience of running alongside thousands of passionate athletes from all parts of India.
