Jammu North, J&K Police enter finals of Hockey J&K UT Men C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 28: The Hockey J&K UT Men Championship entered its decisive stage on Day 5 at the KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu, with Jammu North and J&K Police storming into the finals after commanding semifinal victories.
The championship has drawn participation from 17 teams across the Union Territory. In the first semifinal, Jammu North dominated Poonch with a convincing 6-0 win. Jotveer Singh (No. 2) netted two field goals in the 16th and 31st minutes. Captain Kirandeep Singh converted a penalty corner in the 38th minute and added another goal in the 48th minute. Rohit Kumar struck in the 55th minute, while Tejpal Singh sealed the victory with a goal in the final minute.
The second semifinal witnessed a one-sided contest as J&K Police thrashed Kathua 13-0. Karanjit Singh opened the scoring in the 4th minute, followed by a penalty corner conversion from Prabhjot. Navjot, Balmeet Singh, and Arunpreet further added to the tally early in the game. Vishaldeep Singh led the charge with four goals (26th, 40th, 58th, and 59th minutes). Contributions also came from Gagandeep Singh, Balbir Singh (two goals), and Arunpreet, who scored his second later in the match.
Ajay Gupta, Manager of KK Hakku Stadium, was introduced to the teams. Matches were officiated by Sunil Gupta, Faizan Khan, Sushil Kumar, and Lal Khan, with Chanveer Singh as scoring judge, Gargi as timing judge, Jaspreet Singh as technical officer, and Sahil Kumar as reserve umpire.
The final will be played on Sunday (March 29) at 4 PM between J&K Police and Jammu North.
