SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Jammu Division secured a thrilling victory against Kashmir Division in the opening match of the Inter-Division UT Level U-19 Cricket Tournament 2024, held today at the BHSS ground in Bijbehara. With this win, Jammu takes a 1-0 lead in the tournament.
Organized by the Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department of J&K and hosted by DYSSO Anantnag, the tournament was inaugurated by Principal of BHSS Bijbehara, Nasreena Akhter, along with YSS officials.
Kashmir Division batted first, setting a target of 124 runs. Shahid Saleem top-scored with 39 runs, and Mohd Umair Khan added 28 runs. Jammu’s bowling was led by Takshdeep Singh, who claimed 4 wickets, with Mohd Hasnain and Waseem taking 2 wickets each.
In reply, Jammu Division chased down the target, finishing at 126 for 8 in the 18th over. Ashotosh played a pivotal role, scoring an unbeaten 44 runs, while Arman Sharma contributed 25 runs. Zeeshan Zahoor was the standout bowler for Kashmir, taking 2 wickets. This victory sets an encouraging tone for Jammu as the tournament progresses.
