JAMMU, Dec 11: The Jammu District Hockey Championship 2025, organized by Hockey J&K commenced at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, here today witnessing thrilling contests and high-octane performances.
On the opening day, three matches were played. In the first match, Guru Nanak Hockey Club (GNN HC) defeated Shaheed Bhagat Singh HC by 8-0. Tejpal Singh scored twice (4th & 34th minutes), Gurpreet Singh added two goals (19th & 47th), Deepak scored in the 10th and 49th minutes, while Gagandeep Singh netted in the 7th minute.
The second match saw Badhu Rakh HC outclass MBS Club Simble Camp by 5-2. Taranjeet Singh scored twice (22nd & 59th minutes), with Rohit, Kirandeep and Sunil adding one goal each. MBS HC’s goals came from Jaswinder Singh and Prabhjot Singh (33rd & 34th minutes).
In the third match, Sahil HC defeated Gole Gujral Khalsa HC by 9-0. Jotweer Singh scored a hat-trick including two penalty corners, while Gurjeet Singh and Manjot Singh contributed three goals collectively.
The event was inaugurated by Ajay Gupta, Manager KK Hakku Stadium, as chief guest, with veteran hockey player Iqbal Singh as guest of honour. The event was held under the leadership of Gurdeep Singh. Dr Taran Singh, General Secretary Hockey J&K, thanked the J&K Sports Council for their support and announced plans for women’s district championships, J&K UT Championships and Sub-Junior events. Sahil Kumar and Gurvachan Singh; Technical officials: Anjali, Minakshi, Jagjit Singh, Sarabjeet Kour and Anu Sharma were match officials.
