JAMMU, Feb 11: Organised by Jammu District Fencing Association (JDFA) under the aegis of J&K Fencing Association (JKFA), the 19th Jammu District Fencing Championship concluded here today at M.A Stadium.
More than 150 fencers from various institutes including Army Public School Akhnoor and Kaluchak participated in the championship.
The tournament featured a total of 30 events, covering age categories from Under-12, Under-14, Under-17, Under-20 and senior levels.
The championship was graced by the chief guest, Rajiv Sharma, Member, J&K Sports Council along with Iqbal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu and Krupali Singh, Manager, New Indoor Sports complex who was guest of honour.
Vijay Kumar, president JKFA, Supriya Chouhan, secretary general JKFA and Javed Choudhary, general secretary JDFA were also present on the occasion along with former International Fencer and International Referee, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Sr. Fencing Coach Rachna Jamwal and Shotu Lal Sharma, former National Medalists, Maninder Pal Singh, Adarsh Slathia, Pritam Slathia, Anthony Mattoo and Ajay Khartol.
The matches were conducted under the supervision of Ankush Gupta, Gourav Thakur, Parvinder Sharma and Rahul Sharma.
On 2nd day, the Gold Medal winners Under-17 were Raghav Choudhary, Tanmay Dogra and Eknoor Kour; in Under-20 category, the winners were Yuvraj Singh and Sanwari Rajput while in senior category, the winners were Tanmay Gupta, Amish Sharma, Samreen Rafiq, Chhavi Sharma and Riya Bakshi.
