Jammu District Boxing C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Mar 14: The two-day Jammu District Boxing Championship concluded at the Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, Jammu, witnessing enthusiastic participation from young pugilists across the district. Around 30 boxers from different parts of Jammu district took part in the championship.
The event was organised by the J&K Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of the Boxing Federation of India and J&K Olympic Association and was sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
Arshi Nad, Manager of the Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, distributed medals and certificates among the winners and participants. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest congratulated the players for their spirited performances and encouraged them to continue working hard to excel in the sport. The championship witnessed high levels of enthusiasm and determination among the boxers.
The technical conduct of the championship was carried out by Sajad Pathan, Sandeep Singh, Gautam Kumar, Aman Sangral, Akash Baigra, Akash Sharma, Aarif Mohammad, Rahul Kumar and Sanjay Sharma.
In the junior boys’ category, Kameshwar defeated Chitesh in the 46 kg bout, Faisal beat Sagar in the 50 kg category, while Vashu overcame Tosif in the 60 kg bout. In the youth men’s category, Kinshu defeated Rohit in the 55 kg, Aditya beat Smyle in the 60 kg and Kanav won against Yuvraj in the 70 kg category.
In the elite men’s category, Kush was declared winner against Nishant by walkover and later defeated Rohit in the 50 kg category, while Deepak beat Masood in the 75 kg bout (Youth).
