JAMMU, Dec 5: Jammu District Bagged overall trophy in the 12th J&K State Wushu Championship, which concluded at MA Stadium, here today.
Samba District emerged first runners-up, while the second runners-up trophy was shared by Srinagar and Budgam Districts.
Ch Lal Singh, Minister for Health and Medical Education was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
District Jammu comprising of Academy of Jammu, Jodhamal Public school, Banyan International school, Nagbani school, K C international school, Vidhya Peeth, SDKV Schhol, J P World, Rich Harvest school, G D Goenka school clinched the overall trophy whereas District Samba remained 2nd and District Budgam and Srinagar remained joint 3rd in the medal tally.
16 Districts of the state participated in the 4-day J&K State Wushu Championship. Chowdhary Lal Singh also felicitated the medal winners at International level in Wushu. Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh, Kamal Kishore, Rajinder Singh, Khalida Bhanu and Kuldeep Handoo, National Coach of India were felicitated on the occasion.
Earlier, H K Lohia presented the welcome address and briefed about the achievements of Wushu at National and International level and requested Minister for the support and encouragement to Bhanu Pratap singh, who created history by winning lone medal in the World Wushu Chamionship.
The Minister congratulated Wushu Association of J&K and the medal winners for making the country proud, especially, Kuldeep Handoo for his efforts in winning new feats at World and Asian Games.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jahangir Mir, D G Sports, Ranjit Kalra, Member BCCI and J&K State Sports Council, Deepak Handa, Vijay Saraf, Krupali (Arjun Awardee), Kuldeep Handoo, Ajay Paul Gill, Satish Gupta and Daljeet Singh.
The best player of the tournament was given to Satinder Singh of Jammu district in 65 kg.
