Jammu boys outplay Kashmir counterparts in U-19 Tennis Ball Cricket

SRINAGAR, Sept 10: Jammu boys got better of their counterparts from Kashmir, while Kashmir girls leveled series with their counterparts from Jammu in the State Level Inter-Division Under-19 Boys and Girls Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, here.
The Tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Director General, Navin Aggarwal and under the overall supervision of Joint Director, Kashmir, Nilofar Amin.
Earlier, in the Under-19 boys, Jammu defeated Kashmir by 4 runs in a close contest.
Batting first, Jammu scored 63 runs in the allotted 8 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Sunil Kumar, Rajat and Amit Singh were the main contributors with 18, 17 and 13 runs respectively. For Kashmir Division Mehraj and Solhay claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Kashmir Division managed to score 59 runs in the stipulated 8 overs by losing 7 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 4 runs. Mehraj was the top scorer with 23 runs, while Wahid contributed 18 runs to the total. For Jammu Division, Ashank and Saksham scalped 2 wickets each.
In another match earlier, Jammu trounced Kashmir by 13 runs. Batting first, Jammu scored a modest total of 48 runs in 8 overs, while Kashmir in reply bundled out for 35 runs to lose the match by a margin of 13 runs. Ashank and Sunil Kumar were the star performers for Jammu who bagged 3 wickets each.
Meanwhile, Jammu girls prevailed over Kashmir eves by 6 wickets in an easy contest.
Winning the toss and battng first, Kashmir scored 51 runs in the allotted 8 overs by losing 5 wickets. Danish and Muzamil contributed 13 and 7 runs to the total respectively. For Jammu Division, Noor Jahan took 3 wickets, while Nitika bagged one.
In reply, Jammu scored the required runs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Nadia and Nikita scored 12 runs each, while Heena Bhat contributed 10 runs. For Kashmir division, Farkhanda claimed 2 wickets.
In another match of Under-19 girls, Kashmir eves defeated Jammu by 4 wickets to level the series. Batting first, Jammu girls scored a decent total of 77 runs, however, in reply, Kashmir girls chased the target in a close contest by losing 4 wicket, thus scripted victory by 4 wickets. Aratrika, Heena and Nadia were the star performers for Jammu, while Kashmir girls displayed all-round show.
The Jammu boys and girls teams are being accompanied by BK Tickoo and Gurvinder Kour as coach and manager respectively.
