JAMMU, Mar 24: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in the summit clashes, Jammu division boys and Kashmir division girls lifted the title trophies in the 8th State Level Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Tennis Ball Cricket Association at Green Field ground, Gandhi Nagar, here.
Earlier, in the boys final, Jammu defeated Kashmir by 10 runs in a close contest. Winning the toss and batting first, Jammu scord 52 runs in the stipulated 8 overs. Deepak top scored with 17 runs, while Rafiq and Narotam contributed 16 and 11 runs respectively. Shafi took 2 wickets for Kashmir division.
In reply, Kashmir division managed to score 42 runs in the allotted 8 overs, thus lost the match by 10 runs.
In the girls section, Kashmir division defeated Jammu by a narrow margin of 6 runs. Batting first, Kashmir division scored 67 runs in the allotted 8 overs. Shiraza top scored with 28 runs, while Bisma contributed 17 runs to the total.
In reply, Jammu managed to score 61 runs in the stipulated overs to lose the match by 6 runs. Sapna top scored with 20 runs.
Chief Sports Officer, J&K State Sports Council, Abdul Qayoom was the chief guest on the occasion, while Divisional Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma was the guest of honour. Both the dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams
Prominent among others present on the occasion were BL Sharma, Ex Assistant Commissioner Development, Rajesh Dhar, FA Salroo, BK Tickoo, NA Wani and Rupali Slathia.
