JAMMU, Apr 6: The Jambu Lochan T20 Cricket Tournament began today at MA Stadium, promoting sports and community engagement in the Union Territory.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Masters Games Association President Ranjit Singh Chib, who unveiled the trophy in the presence of dignitaries including Secretary General Neete Kaur, Treasurer Romesh Sharma, and key members Som Raj Gupta, Kuljeet Singh, Mamta Bajaj, Sanjay Puri, Prabal Sharma and Rameshwar Singh Manhas.
Featuring ten teams from across the Union Territory, the event aims to promote cricket and youth engagement. Matches are being officiated by umpires Harsh Nayyar and Deepak Gupta, while Surinder Kumar is the scorer.
In the opening match, Hunter Cricket Club opted to bat first after winning the toss but were restricted to 89 runs in 20 overs. Adatiya Katoch top-scored with 25 off 17 balls. Rahul Jamwal starred with the ball for Mulan Cricket Club, taking 4 wickets for just 9 runs.
In reply, Mulan Cricket Club chased down the target comfortably, losing only three wickets. Akash Choudhary led the charge with a blistering 58 off 22 balls. Rahul Jamwal was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
