Jaguar Club, Preet Nagar advance in 2nd SCPL

JAMMU, Mar 1: Jaguar Cricket Club and Preet Nagar Cricket Club secured victories in their respective matches to advance to the next round of the ongoing 2nd Sikh Cricket Premier League (SCPL), organised jointly by the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee and Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club at University of Jammu grounds.
In the first match, Jaguar Club defeated Evershine Club by 15 runs. Batting first, Jaguar posted 142 runs in 19.5 overs after Evershine elected to field. In reply, Evershine could only manage 127 runs in 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Harjot Singh’s brilliant bowling spell of 3 for 16 in four overs earned him the man of the match award, while Jeevanjot Singh, who scored 37 runs off 34 balls, was declared best batter. The match was attended by IGP Crime Sujit Kumar, who praised the organisers and interacted with the teams.
In the second match, Preet Nagar United beat Noor XI by 19 runs. Preet Nagar made 190 runs for seven wickets, while Danish Fayaz’s 74-run knock off 44 balls earned him player of the match despite Noor XI’s valiant chase of 171 runs, including 101 off 56 balls by Danish. Commissioner Secretary Industries Vikramjeet Singh was the chief guest and lauded the organisers for promoting youth participation in sports.
Tomorrow’s fixtures include Chardikala Strikers vs Nanak Nagar United Cricket Club at 9 am and Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club vs Baba Farid Nagar Cricket Club at 1:30 pm.
