*Shama Singh of CBSE slams second consecutive fifty

JAMMU, Nov 30: Semifinals lineup has been drawn as hosts Jammu and Kashmir alongwith Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Telangana sealed berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 61st National School Games-2015-16 in the discipline of Cricket Under-17 Girls, being organized by the Directorate General, Youth Services & Sports, under the patronage of DG Sports, Jahangir Mir at different venues, here.
Now in the semifinals, Andhra Pradesh will lock-horns with J&K and Telangana will take on Punjab at Shrine Board Sports Complex, Katra tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first match at KC Public School ground, Telangana defeated J&K by 5 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, J&K made a modest total of 93 runs in the stipulated 18 overs. Skipper Sanjana top scored with 24 runs, while Sonia contributed 17 runs to the total. Kirti Reddy claimed 2 wickets for Telangana.
In reply, Telangana chased the target easily in 14 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Darshana was the top scorer with 28 runs, while Kirti contributed 21 runs to the total. For J&K, Iqra, Sanjana and Sonia took one wicket each.
In another match at KC Public School, Gujarat defeated NVS by 14 runs. Gujarat scored 101 runs, while NVS got bundled out for 85 runs. For Gujarat, Daimanti was the top scorer with 35 runs, while Yamuna was the top scorer for NVS with 20 runs. For NVS, Yamuna and Sireesha claimed 3 and 2 wickets respectively, while for Gujarat, Hruthvisha Patel took 2 wickets and Daimanti claimed one wicket.
At MA Stadium, AP thrashed Gujarat by 7 wickets in a low scoring match. Gujarat bundled out fo
r 44 runs, with Daimanti and Hrutvisha scoring 7 and 6 runs respectively. Hemlata was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 4 important wickets, while Sindhuja took 2 and Tejasvi claimed one wicket. In reply, AP chased the target in 8.3 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Sindhuja (20) and Daimanti (15) were the main contributors.
In another match at MA Stadium, CBSE defeated Tamil Nadu by a big margin of 107 runs. CBSE scored a big total of 154 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, while Tamil Nadu managed to score only 47 runs in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by a huge margin. Shama Singh of CBSE was the star performer with the bat as she scored second consecutive half-century in the Tournament, contributing unbeaten 66 runs today. Anjali Singh also scored valuable 46 runs.
Vaishnavi, who earlier took 2 wickets, chipped in with 10 runs, while for CBSE Anjali claimed 2 wickets.
At Jammu University ground, Punjab defeated NVS by 14 runs, with Arvinder of Punjab taking a 5-wicket haul.
In another match at University ground, AP defeated Maharashtra by 7 wickets.
Batting first, Maharashtra scored 103 runs in the stipulated overs. Sakshi top scored with 50 runs, while Sakshi Kandi contributed 37 runs. Anusha took one wicket for AP.
In reply, AP chased the target in 15 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Sindhuja (48) and Tejasvi (26) were the main contributors. Snehal and Yogadra claimed one wicket each for Maharashtra.
The matches were officiated by Jagtar Singh, Ahish Galzale, Balraj, Saleem-ul-Rehman, Raj Kumar, Gurvinder Singh, Satpal Singh, Sadiq Husain Malik, Zahoor Rather, Atul Solanki, Ashok Dass, Nazir Ahmed, Younis Ahad, Rakesh Choudhary, Kulbir Singh, Madan Mohan, Urmilla Khajuria and Swati.
