*IRP-15th lifts Volleyball title in women category

JAMMU, Apr 17: IRP-4th and IRP-19th Battalions will lock horns in the finals of the Hockey event tomorrow, organised during the ongoing Inter-Battalion Tournament by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Earlier, in first semis, IRP-4th Battalion beat IRP-7th Battalion by 3-0 goals. Indpal Singh, Gurmukh Singh and Mushtaq score one goal each. In the second semis, IRP-19th Battalion defeated IRP-17th Battalion by straight 2-0 goals. The scorers were Satwant Singh and Rana Pratap.
In Volleyball (Women), IRP-15th Battalion registered win over IRP-17th by straight 2-0 sets and lifted the title trophy. Earlier, in the first semifinal round, IRP-15th Battalion trounced IRP-19th Battalion by 2-0 sets, whereas, in the second semis, IRP-17th Battalion thrashed IRP-12th Battalion by 2-0 sets. In Men category, IRP-19th Battalion and IRP-16th Battalion will lock horns in the finals. Earlier, in the first semis, JKAP-5th Battalion lost to IRP-19th Battalion by 3-0 sets, whereas, n the second semifinal, IRP-16th Battalion thrashed IRP-10th Battalion by straight 3-0 sets.
In 12 kilometers Cross Country, Vikram Singh of IRP-2nd Battalion, Lal Singh of IRP-12th Battalion and Shallu Ram of IRP-9th Battalion claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In Discus Throw, Latief Ahmad of IRP-17th Battalion, Sandeep Kumar of IRP-4th Battalion and Shahnaz Ahmad of IRP-5th Battalion emerged winners.
In 4x100Mtr Relay, Shabir Kumar, Zubair Ahmad, Tanvir Ahmad and Danish Yousuf, all from IRP-17th Battalion claimed first position, while, Maninder Singh, Jangdeep Singh, Mohan Lal and Mudasir Bashir, all from IRP-19th Battalion secured second position. The third rank was claimed by Madan Lal, Naresh Kumar, Rajinder Singh and Jagjit Singh, all from IRP-16th Battalion.
In High Jump, Maninder Singh of IRP-19th Battalion claimed first position, while second and third positions were secured by Raj Kumar of IRP-17th Battalion and Vikrant Raina of IRP-19th Battalion.
In Javelin Throw, Harish Sharma of IRP-17th Battalion and Sahil Gupta of IRP-19th Battalion secured first and second positions, while the third position was shared by Irshad Mohd of IRP-19th Battalion and Balwan Singh of JKAP-7th Battalion.
In Badminton (GOs), Sanjay Parihar and Randhir Singh will lock horns in the final. Earlier, in the first semis, Sanjay Parihar thrashed Suraj Singh by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 21-16 and 21-15, whereas in the second semifinal, Randhir Singh trounced Vijay Singh Sambyal by 2-1 sets and score remained 21-10, 18-21 and 22-20.
In Basketball, IRP-3rd Battalion, IRP-19th Battalion, IRP-18th Battalion and IRP-17th Battalion registered wins and sailed into semis. Earlier, in the first quarterfinal match, IRP-3rd Battalion thrashed JKAP-13th Battalion by 25-12 points, whereas in the second quarterfinal, IRP-19th Battalion registered 32-22 points win over JKAP-12th Battalion. In the third quarterfinal, IRP-18th Battalion trounced IRP-12th Battalion by 28-14 points, whereas in the fourth quarterfinal, IRP-17th Battalion routed IRP-8th Battalion by 23-16 points.
In Boxing (Women), in Fly Weight category, Sangeeta Koul of IRP-15th Battalion and Dimple Kotwal of JKAP-6th Battalion clamed gold and silver medals respectively. In Fly weight category, Ishrat Nahid of IRP-5th Battalion and Neeta Kumari of IRP-19th Battalion emerged winners. In Boutam Weight Category, Mehnaz Kousar of IRP-15th Battalion claimed gold medal, whereas, the silver medal was claimed by Sheetu Pandita of IRP-17th Battalion. In Feather weight category, Sunita Rajput of IRP-15th Battalion and Nidhi Bala of IRP-19th Battalion claimed gold and silver medals respectively. In Light weight category, Shallu Sharma of IRP-17th Battalion and Khalida Parveen of IRP-15th Battalion emerged winners. In Light Walter weight category, Gold medal was bagged by Nisha Rani of IRP-15th Battalion and silver medal was claimed by Shashi Bala of IRP-17th Battalion. In Walter weight category, Jyoti Devi of IRP-15th Battalion and Shehnaz Akhter of IRP-12th Battalion emerged winners. In Middle Weight category, Shehnaz Akhter of IRP-15th Battalion and Bindu Sharma of IRP-19th Battalion claimed gold and silver medals respectively. In light Heavy weight category, Pooja Rani of IRP-17th Battalion and Kaveeri Sharma of IRP-15th Battalion emerged winners. In Heavy weight category, gold medal was claimed by Anju Bala of IRP-15th Battalion, whereas, the silver medal was bagged by Jatinder Kour of IRP-12th Battalion.
In Football, IRP-19th Battalion and JKAP-8th Battalion registered wins and advanced to semis. Earlier, in the first quarterfinal match, IRP-19th Battalion thrashed JKAP-14th Battalion by straight 2-0 goals and the scorer were Masroor and Rana Pratap, whereas in the second quarterfinal match, IRP-19th Battalion lost to JKAP-8th Battalion by 3-0 goals. The goals were scored by Sohan Kumar, Mushtaq and Rakesh Kumar.
In Handball, JKAP-14th Battalion and IRP-19th Battalion sailed into the semis. Earlier, in the first quarterfinal match, JKAP-14th Battalion thrashed IRP-18th Battalion by 19-9 goals, whereas, in the second quarterfinal match, JKAP-8th Battalion faced defeat by IRP-19th Battalion by 15-11 goals.
In Kabaddi, IRP-6th Battalion, IRP-3rd Battalion, IRP-19th Battalion and IRP-8th Battalion advanced to semis. In first quarterfinal match, IRP-6th Battalion thrashed JKAP-8th Battalion by 31-27 points, whereas, in the second quarterfinal match, IRP-3rd Battalion trounced IRP-20th Battalion by 51-31 points. In the third quarterfinal match, IRP-10th Battalion lost to IRP-19th Battalion by 37-12 points, whereas in the fourth quarterfinal match, IRP-8th Battalion outplayed IRP-17th battalion by 40-30 points.
In Table Tennis (GOs), Vijay Singh Sambyal and Swaran Singh Jungi registered wins and advanced to semis. In first quarterfinal match, Vijay Singh Sambyal thrashed Vijay Kumar by 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-08 and 11-06, while in the second quarterfinal match, Sanjay Parihar lost to Swaran Singh Jungi by 11-5 and 11-5 points.
In Tug-of-War, JKAP-5th Battalion, JKAP-7th Battalion, IRP-1st Battalion, JKAP-14th Battalion, IRP-17th Battalion, IRP-19th Battalion, IRP-10th Battalion, JKAP-6th Battalion, IRP-9th Battalion and IRP-4th Battalion register wins.
In Wrestling, Pawan Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, both from IRP-19th Battalion secured first and second position respectively in 56 kg weight category, whereas, Kuldeep Raj of IRP-4th Battalion and Javed Iqbal of JKAP-9th Battalion in 62 kg category, Nitin Kumar and Yasir Mohd from IRP-19th Battalion in 69 kg category, Parveen Kumar of IRP-19th Battalion and Harish Sharma of IRP-1st Battalion in 77 kg category, Narinder Singh of JKAP-9th Battalion and Raju Sandhu of IRP-19th Battalion in 85 kg category, Naveen Sharma of IRP-19th Battalion and Zahoor Ahmed of JKAP-5th Battalion in 94 kg category, Davinder Gupta of JKAP-14th Battalion and Paramjit Singh of IRP-4th Battalion in 105 kg category and Randeep Singh of IRP-11th Battalion and Sajjad Hussain of JKAP-6th Battalion in above 105 kg category.
