Irfan slams ton as Sopore Police registers huge win

SOPORE, July 18: Riding on a magnificent century by Irfan Ahmed, Police Cricket Team Sopore scripted a huge win by 119 runs over Chankhan Riders in the ongoing 1st Sopore T20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, under Civic Action Programme at Khushal Stadium, here.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Police team posted a mammoth total of 212 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing just 2 wickets in the process. Irfan slammed a swashbuckling 126 runs, sending the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt by hitting 12 fours and 8 sixes in his 62-ball knock. He struck shots with fluid grace and utter brilliance.
In reply, Chankhan Riders bundled out for a paltry total of 93 runs in 16.4 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 119 runs. Irfan was adjudged man of the match for his fabulous century.
Meanwhile, in another match, United Cricket Club Sopore drubbed Wonder Boys Kralteng comfortably by 86 runs.
Batting first, United Club scored 159 runs in the allotted overs, while in reply, Wonder Boys collapsed at 73 runs, thus lost the match by 86 runs. Shahid of United Club was adjudged as man of the match for his knock of 53 runs.
A total of 48 matches have been played so far in the tournament and the quarterfinal matches will be played on July 19 and July 20 at the same venue.
