JAMMU, May 22: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Jammu, launched the Inter-Zone District Level competitions and selection trials for U-14 and U-17 boys and girls in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Cricket across various venues in tehsil Akhnoor.
The three-day event was inaugurated at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sohal by DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma, along with Principal Sushma Thakur and ZPEOs Ashok Kumar, Usha Fotedar and Nirmal Kumari.
Players from Akhnoor, Jourian, Khour and Chowki Choura zones are participating in the trials aimed at selecting promising talent for upcoming inter-district tournaments. On Day 1, approximately 160 student-athletes from 12 teams participated in Cricket (U-17 Boys) and Kho-Kho (U-14 and U-17 Boys). Matches were officiated by departmental experts and technical staff to ensure fair play.
