JAMMU, Aug 20: Department of Youth Services and Sports, district Jammu, today commenced the Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions of Kabaddi, Football, Volleyball (U-19 boys) and Chess (AAG boys) at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, Jammu.
The competitions are being organized under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta, and under the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Vinakshi Koul, along with Deputy Director Central, Jetinder Mishra, while the overall supervision is being carried out by DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
A total of approximately 540 participants drawn from different zones of district Jammu are taking part in the event. The competitions are being conducted by the departmental experts and officials including Ashok Kumar, Jasdev Singh, Tilak Parihar, Naresh Kumar, Harsimran Singh, Nitin Sethi, Ajay Kumar, Rohit Gupta, besides other committee convenors and technical staff of the department.
On the first day of the competitions, in Volleyball (U-19 boys), Zone Jammu defeated Zone Chowki Choura by 2-0 sets, Zone Jourian beat Zone Dansal by 2-1 sets, Zone RS Pura got the better of Zone Marh by 2-0 sets, while Zone Bishnah prevailed over Zone Gandhi Nagar by 2-0 sets.
In Kabaddi (U-19 boys), Zone Khour registered a win against Zone Marh by 21-13 points, Zone Dansal overpowered Zone Gandhi Nagar by 28-6 points, Zone RS Pura triumphed over Zone Miran Sahib by 27-19 points, and Zone Chowki Choura secured victory against Zone Bishnah by 24-14 points.
In Football (U-19 boys), Zone Gandhi Nagar emerged victorious against Zone Jourian with a 3-2 scoreline, in which Mohd Kunal scored two goals and Akeshit netted one goal for Gandhi Nagar, while Auneesh scored both the goals for Jourian. In another match, Zone Akhnoor defeated Zone Bishnah by 2-0, with Satyam scoring both the goals for his team.
