KISHTWAR, June 18: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YS&S) Kishtwar launched the Inter-Zonal District Level Chess and Yoga Tournament for U-14 and U-17 boys and girls at the Indoor Hall of HSS Boys Kishtwar. The event commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony marked by enthusiastic participation from student-athletes and dignitaries.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma was the chief guest who formally declared the tournament open. In his address, he lauded the efforts of the YS&S Department in fostering youth development through sports and highlighted the importance of physical and mental discipline in student life.
District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Jaffer Haider Sheikh, in his welcome address, emphasized the significance of intellectual games like Chess and Yoga in improving focus, emotional balance, and mental strength. He expressed gratitude to all field staff and stakeholders for their dedication in organizing the event. The tournament witnessed spirited performances from students across various educational zones of Kishtwar. Senior officers, ZPEOs, PEMs, PETs, REKs, GMs and NYCs were also present.
