JAMMU, Oct 27: The Inter Zonal District Level Athletic Competition for All Age Groups (AAG) Boys, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Jammu, concluded at the University of Jammu, here today.
The event was held under the patronage of Director General YSS J&K, Anuradha Gupta, guided by Joint Director YSS Jammu, Vinakshi Koul and supervised by DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
Around 250 athletes from various Government and private schools of district Jammu showcased their skills in track and field events. The competition was officiated by departmental experts including Nirmal Singh, Chamel Singh, Sarabjeet Singh, Vijay Sharma, Harsimran Singh, Kailash Choudhary, Sukhdev Singh, Harvinder Singh, Reema Chetri, Anil Gandhotra, Pawandeep Kour and other technical staff.
Simultaneously, Inter School District Level selection trials in softball and baseball under AAG girls commenced at GGM Science College, Jammu.
In athletics results, Shaz Ali Mir of Zone Jammu secured Gold in the U-17 Boys 800m race, while Parkash Chander of Zone Marh and Suesan Choudhary Singh of Zone Satwari bagged Silver and Bronze, respectively. In U-19 Boys 800m, Gold went to Mashkoor Ahmed of Zone Jourian, followed by Rajveer of Zone Miran Sahib (Silver) and Jogesh Masotea of Zone Satwari (Bronze). In the U-19 Boys 200m race, Akhil Bharti of Zone Dansal clinched Gold, with Dig Vijay Singh of Zone Satwari and Arun Dutta of Zone Jammu taking Silver and Bronze.
The U-17 Boys 200m title was won by Toyiab Aslad of Zone Jammu, while Ashmeet Angral of Zone Bishnah stood second and Vansh Choudhary of Zone Satwari finished third. In U-14 Boys 200m, Rameshwar of Zone Dansal bagged Gold, followed by Yuv Raj Singh of Zone Bishnah and Manan Mir of Zone Gandhi Nagar.
In the U-19 Boys 1500m race, Sunil Kumar of Zone Khour stood first, Rohit Sharma of Zone Akhnoor second and Talesh Raj Singh of Zone Jourian third. Shot Put winners included Saadat-Ul-Islam of Zone Dansal (Gold), Vishau Partap of Zone Bishnah (Silver) and Karan Nepali of Zone Marh (Bronze) in the U-19 category, while Kartik Singh Chib of Zone Satwari topped U-17 Boys. In the U-14 Shot Put event, Rehan Jaffar of Zone Gandhi Nagar earned Gold.
In Javelin Throw, Raja Ram of Zone Bishnah emerged victorious in U-19 Boys, and Shiva of Zone Bhalwal claimed Gold in U-17 Boys, with others securing podium finishes across categories.
