Inter-School chess, thang-ta, kick-boxing tourney gets underway

JAMMU, Aug 7: The Jammu District Inter-School competitions in the disciplines of kick- boxing, jeet kunado, thang-ta, rope skipping and chess for boys under the age group of 19 years got underway at Shastri Memorial Higher Secondary School, Patoli, here.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
In all about hundred boys drawn from the various schools of District Jammu are participating in the tournament to compete for the top honours.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by KL Kharu, Principal Shastri Memorial Higher Secondary School, Patoli, who was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ravinder Gupta was the guest of honour.
In Under-19 boys chess, Sukashan Mohan of BSF Ploura toppled Arjun Kapoor of APS Domana, Sidharth Mani of Dogra HSS trounced Vikas Kotwal of BSF Paloura, Yakash Chopra of Heritage HSS drubbed Anshul Bhagat of BSF Paloura, Aditya Sanmotra of Heritage outclassed Karandeep, Pranshu Kabra of Heritage outplayed Abhey Sharma of JK Public School, Ayush Jamwal of Heritage got better of Gourav Koshik of BSF Paloura and Akash Gupta of APS Jammu prevailed over Vikrant Gupta of Shastri Memorial HSS Patoli.
In Under-19 boys thang-ta, Sahil Bhagat of New Jyoti HSS defeated Akash Jamwal of HSS Bhalwal in below 55 kg category, Ajay Kumar of HSS Marh thrashed Vishal Manyal of HSS Bhalwal in below 60 kg, Rahul Singh of HSS Jhiri beat Wasim Akram of HSS Bhalwal in below 70 kg and Ramandeep Singh of Anuradha HSS outclassed Arun Seth of HSS Bhalwal in above 75 kg weight category.
Meanwhile, in Under-19 boys jeet kunado, Neeraj Kumar of HSS Paloura drubbed Neeraj Kumar of BSF Paloura in below 45 kg, Akshit Ghai of Vidhyapeeth HSS defeated Mirdul Kerni of KC International in below 47 kg category, Paras Mehra of KC International beat Akshit Khajuria of the same school in below 49 kg, Ashish Sharma of KC International trounced Vikas Dayal of BSF Paloura in below 51 kg, Akashdeep of Shastri Memorial School thrashed Kunal Sharma of the same school in below 53 kg category, Hitesh Langer of KC International toppled Akash Choudhary of BSF Palouri in 55 kg and Ritvik Gupta of APS Domana prevailed over Rishab Jamwal of KC International in above 61 kg category.
