UDHAMPUR, Aug 22: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Udhampur, inaugurated the Inter-District Divisional Level Tournament for Under-14 and Under-17 girls today at the Mini Stadium here today, marking a significant milestone in promoting girls’ participation in sports.
The tournament was officially opened by Romesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Udhampur, who was accompanied by Deep Kumar, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) and other departmental dignitaries. A total of 83 talented girls from four district teams are participating, showcasing emerging talent and fostering sportsmanship among young female athletes in the region.
In the Under-14 girls’ category, Udhampur showcased strong performances, defeating Doda by 4-0 and Rajouri by 1-0, while Jammu secured victories over Rajouri (3-0) and Doda (4-1). In the Under-17 category, Udhampur continued their winning streak by beating Doda by 8-3 and Jammu dominated their match against Doda with a 10-4 win.
