JAMMU, Oct 14: The Inter-College Table Tennis Tournament 2024, held at the Government College of Education (GCOE), Jammu, concluded with thrilling performances from students representing five prominent colleges. The competition featured both men’s and women’s categories, with teams from Govt. MAM College, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, GGM Science College and the host institution, Govt. College of Education, vying for top honors.
Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal of Govt. College of Education, presided over the event as the chief guest. She commended the players for their exceptional efforts and encouraged them to continuously sharpen their skills. Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director Sports at Cluster University of Jammu and the guest of honour, lauded the dedication of the participants and urged them to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship in all their endeavors. Prof. Satish Sharma, attending as the special guest, added further prestige to the event with his presence.
Distinguished dignitaries present at the tournament included Dr. Rajinder Kour, Dr. Davinder Kour, Dr. Shalika Gupta, Prof. Balwan Singh, Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Dr. Shubra Jamwal, Prof. Priyanka Mahajan, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Dr. Suraj Prakash, Dr. Sonam Gandotra, Neenu (Physical Director, MAM College), Kajal Premi (Physical Director, GCW Gandhi Nagar), Ravi Kumar (Physical Director, SPMR College of Commerce), and Neelam Kumari (Assistant Physical Director, MAM College). The tournament was organized under the expert supervision of Dr. Vinod Bakshi.
In the Men’s category, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce triumphed, defeating Govt. MAM College with a convincing score of 3-0. In the Women’s category, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce once again took the top spot, overcoming GGM Science College with a score of 3-1. The matches were officiated by Ajay Ratra and Rekha Ratra, ensuring fairness and smooth conduct throughout the tournament. Approximately 50 students participated, showcasing excellent teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
