Inter-College Boxing C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Nov 13: The Inter-College Boxing Championship for Men and Women, organized by the Cluster University of Jammu and conducted by SPMR College of Commerce, concluded today at University of Jammu.
Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director, Physical Education and Sports, graced the occasion as chief guest, while D.S. Manhas, Dean Students Welfare, highlighted the achievements of university athletes and shared plans for a comprehensive Sports Policy to strengthen student participation in sports.
In the Men’s Section, gold medalists included: Rohit Shiv (MAM College, 18–50 kg), Rakshin Sambyal (MAM College, 50–55 kg), Amritpal Singh (MAM College, 55–60 kg), Daksh Sharma (SPMR College, 60–65 kg), Abhimanyu Sharma (MAM College, 65–70 kg), Vansh Singh (SPMR College, 70–75 kg), Navjot Singh (MAM College, 75–80 kg), Simranjeet Singh (GGM Science College, 80–85 kg), Majid Ahmed (GGM Science College, 85–90 kg), and Anmol Sharma (MAM College, 90+ kg). Silver medalists were: Ishmeet Singh (SPMR College), Tsering Namgail (GGM Science College), Ayush Mahajan (SPMR College), Shahid Ahmed (GGM Science College), Vasu Singh (GGM Science College), Ranbir Singh (MAM College), Vasudev Sharma (SPMR College), Devyansh Upadhaya (SPMR College), Prateep Singh (SPMR College), and Imran Hashmi (SPMR College). MAM College emerged overall champion with 34 points, followed by SPMR College (30 points) and GGM Science College (22 points).
In the Women’s Section, gold medalists included Anushka Gupta (SPMR College, 48–50 kg), Meenakshi Devi (GGM Science College, 55–60 kg), and Ishita (SPMR College, 70–75 kg), while silver went to Urvashi Bhagat (GCW Gandhi Nagar, 48–50 kg). No overall team winner was declared due to limited participation.
The championship, officiated by Harinderpal Singh, Harsh Dev Singh, Danish Padha, Anshuman Khajuria, and Rajeev Bakshi, concluded celebrating the students’ dedication, skill, and growing enthusiasm for boxing.
