SRINAGAR, Sept 18: The Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) today announced the launch of its first T-20 cricket season, which will run from 23rd October to 7th November at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
The organizers unveiled the League’s format and vision during a press conference in Srinagar. The event was addressed by former India cricketer and League mentor Surinder Khanna, IHPL president Ashudani, and Yuva Society chairman Parminder Singh.
Khanna said the League would help nurture talent by giving young players from Jammu and Kashmir an opportunity to be mentored by established domestic and international cricketers.Similarly, Ashudani outlined the structure, which includes eight teams, each playing six league matches before the semifinals and final.
Singh, representing the Yuva Society that founded the league, said the IHPL aims to promote youth empowerment, strengthen the region’s sporting culture, and attract tourism.
Organizers said players were selected through a transparent trial process across J&K, giving local cricketers the chance to compete alongside players from the Indian Premier League, the Ranji Trophy, and international circuits.
Describing the tournament as more than just a cricket event, officials said the IHPL seeks to build a professional sporting ecosystem in the region while showcasing Kashmir’s landscapes to a global audience.
