HSS Gandhri wins volleyball title

RAMBAN, Sept 17: Government HSS Gandhri won the volleyball title, while Friends Club Kabhi claimed the tug-of-war title in the Rural Sports Meet, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Office Ramban which concluded at Government Higher Secondary School Gandri, here.
MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams, while Principal HSS Gandri, Subash Chander Sharma and Zonal Education Officer OP Thakur were also present on the occasion.
Over 400 players drawn from rural areas of the district participated in the championship in the disciplines of volleyball, kabaddi, tug-of-war, cock fighting, stone lifting and wrestling.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest announced the donation of Rs 50,000 from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for promotion of sports in the district. He also assured the School Staff that he will take initiative with regard to development of compound wall, examination hall and computer lab in the school.
This 2-days Sports Meet was held under the overall supervision of Dewan Chand Thakur, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Ramban.
The matches were officiated by Shah Mohd Hussain, Azad Ahmed, Vijay Gupta, Mohd Iqbal and MH Wani.
