POONCH, June 23: To mark Olympic Day, a friendly hockey match was organized at the Astroturf Hockey Ground, BHSS Poonch by Sham Lal Hockey Club (SLHC) and Power House Hockey Club (PHHC), in collaboration with Hockey J&K, Department of Youth Services and Sports, and J&K Sports Council.
Teams from PHHC, KIHC, SLHC and PMDP participated in the spirited game. Sham Lal Hockey Club edged out KIHC & PMDP with a 3-2 win.
Mohd Sayeed, ACR Poonch, was the chief guest, while Neeraj Kumar, DYSP HQ, graced the event as guest of honour. Adv. Sanjeev Kumar, Sr. Vice President Hockey J&K and President PHHC Poonch, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the significance of Olympic Day and encouraging athletes to aspire for the Olympics. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Narinder Singh, Narjeet Singh (Retd ZPEOs), Mustaq Ahmed, Nirdosh Kumar, Vijay Kumar (PEM), Sarla Rani and others.
The match was officiated by Navjot Singh and Saval Ahmed, with Pawan Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, and others handling technical supervision. Vijay Kumar served as master of ceremonies. Prizes and refreshments, sponsored by SLHC, were distributed at the end of the event.
