POONCH, Dec 27: Under the aegis of Hockey J&K, a commemorative hockey match was organized here by the District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) Poonch in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Poonch and Sham Lal Hockey Club.
The event was held to honour the memory of the ‘Chaar Sahibzaade’ and their supreme sacrifice for dharma and the motherland. The match witnessed an enthusiastic contest between Sham Lal Hockey Club Poonch and KI PMDP Hockey Centre. After an evenly fought game, the match ended in a tie and both teams were declared joint winners.
Narinder Singh Pradhan, president DGPC Poonch, graced the occasion as chief guest while Gurcharan Singh, joint secretary DGPC and Surjan Singh, former joint secretary DGPC, attended as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Narinder Singh Pradhan recalled the inspiring life and sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh and his four sons, highlighting their unmatched bravery and steadfast stand against injustice.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony and prize distribution, during which trophies were presented to the participating teams.
The match was technically supervised by hockey coaches Pawan Kumar, Navjot Singh and Saval Ahmed.
