Heritage Walk organized to celebrate Jammu’s cultural legacy

JAMMU, Nov 25: To mark World Heritage Week, the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, in collaboration with the District Administration, organized a Heritage Walk from Mubarak Mandi to Amar Mahal Museum today. The walk was flagged off by Aijaz Qaiser, Joint Director Tourism and saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty of the Food Craft Institute Nagrota, Guru Nanak Public School Jammu and NITS Polytechnic Jammu.
The walk commenced at the historic Mubarak Mandi complex, where participants were briefed about its architectural evolution and cultural significance. As the group traversed through Jammu’s old city, they experienced the rich heritage corridors, architectural wonders and historic spaces that define the region’s charm.
Upon reaching Amar Mahal Museum, the students interacted with heritage experts and gained valuable insights into the importance of conservation and the royal legacy of Jammu. The museum visit was hosted by Ritu Singh and M.K. Ajatshatru Singh, who warmly welcomed the participants. The students toured various galleries, including the famous Nal-Damyanti Gallery, which showcases rare artworks and exhibits reflecting Jammu’s cultural and artistic heritage.
The walk was organized under the direction of Dr. Ashish Chander Verma, Additional Chief Secretary/FC Tourism Department and supervised by Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director Tourism.
