Harshit selected for Junior Asian Fencing C’ship

JAMMU, Feb 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Fencing Association (JKFA) has praised the selection of Harshit Kohli, a rising star in fencing, for the Junior Asian Fencing Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, from February 23 to 27, 2026.
Harshit Kohli, an international sabre fencer from Jammu & Kashmir, earned his spot at the prestigious event following his stellar performance at the Junior National Fencing Championship in Cuttack, Odisha, where he won a Bronze Medal in the Sabre Individual event. His remarkable technique, fitness and competitive spirit have made him one of the most promising fencers in the country.
Harshit has already been shortlisted for the Asian Games Preparation Camps, successfully passing two phases of selection trials alongside top-ranked senior fencers in India. A Khelo India athlete, he is currently training at the National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) Patiala in preparation for the Junior Asian Championship and upcoming international events, including the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
The President of JKFA, Vijay Kumar and Secretary General, Supriya Chouhan and International qualified referee Rashid Ahmed Choudhary along with others extended their best wishes to Harshit for success in Jakarta. The Fencing Association of India confirmed that the Indian contingent’s participation is fully supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Coaches and the entire fencing community in Jammu & Kashmir are confident that Harshit will bring pride to the nation on the international stage.
