Rajouri, Sept 6: A dedicated Gymnasium for girls was inaugurated today at Government Medical College Rajouri by internationally acclaimed microbiologist Prof. (Dr.) Harleen Kaur. The new facility aims to promote physical fitness and encourage a healthy lifestyle among female students.
During the inauguration, Dr. Kaur addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a balanced, stress-free lifestyle. She urged the young women to become role models in their communities by staying away from drugs and advocating for health and wellness. “Adopting healthy habits not only benefits individuals but also contributes to building a stronger, drug-free society,” she said.
The event was attended by Principal Dr. A S Bhatia, Medical Superintendent Dr. Shamim Choudhary, Chief Accounts Officer Ashraf Haqla, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Javid Choudhary, Dr. Arshad Choudhary, faculty members, and students. Dr. Bhatia highlighted the significance of such facilities in educational institutions, stating that they create a positive environment that supports mental, social, and physical well-being.
He further noted that providing access to fitness amenities will help combat the growing menace of drug abuse among youth by encouraging healthier lifestyle choices. The gymnasium is expected to become a hub for promoting wellness and fostering discipline among the college’s female students.
