SAMBA, Nov 16: Gurha Football Club and Sangwali Football Club emerged victorious in the opening matches of the Thalora Premier League, held at Thalora Mandi playground, her today.
In the first match, Gurha FC faced Chandan FC. The first half ended goalless, but minutes into the second half, Chanchal Slathia scored the decisive goal, giving Gurha FC by a 1-0 win. The team successfully defended their lead till the final whistle.
The second match saw Sangwali FC take on Thalora FC. Both teams were tied 2-2 at halftime. In a dominant second-half display, Sangwali scored five consecutive goals, securing a 5-3 win. Key performers included Manik Mahajan and Rajat Sambyal, who scored two goals each, while Davinder Singh added one for Sangwali. For Thalora FC, Abhishek Singh scored twice and Bhavik Sambyal once.
A total of 12 teams are participating in the tournament. Congress District President Sanjeev Sharma inaugurated the event and lauded the youth for organizing sports activities, highlighting their role in keeping young people engaged and away from harmful habits. Football coach Aman Sambyal, Subhash Singh, Jangveer Singh, Sushil Singh, Vishal Dev Singh, Sansar Singh and Aditeshwar Singh were also present to encourage the players.
