Gulf-based MIET alumni meet convened in Dubai, UAE Chapter formed

JAMMU, Jan 22: Alumni of Jammu’s Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) working in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries recently held a vibrant alumni meet in Dubai, celebrating their achievements and strengthening ties with their alma mater.
The event was coordinated by Archna Pandita, 2003 batch alumna and General Secretary of the GCC Chapter of MIETAA (MIET Alumni Association). Archna, a senior faculty at Amity University, Dubai, has previously served at institutions including the University of Stirling, Westford University College, and Birla Institute of Technology.
Professor SK Sharma, Board Member of MIER Group of Institutions and former MIET Principal, attended the meet and lauded the contributions of alumni in the UAE and other GCC countries. Professor Ankur Gupta, MIET Director, joined online and welcomed the alumni, emphasizing that MIET remains their home.
During the meet, Salman Babar (2003 batch), currently in Dubai, was elected President of the UAE Chapter of MIETAA, while Taha Bichoo (2007 batch), Vice President at Citi Wealth UAE, became Vice President of the Chapter. Other coordinators nominated include Rahul Sharma (Oman), Junad Nehvi (Saudi Arabia) and Abdul Ahad (Qatar).
The alumni resolved to mentor current MIET students online, explore paid internships in GCC countries, promote skill development through scholarships and guide students in addressing industry and societal challenges. Plans were also made to sponsor education for underprivileged students at MIET.
The core group meeting in Dubai included Puneet Jain, Anies Ahmed, Zubair Sheikh, Salman Babar, Anuj Sharma, Samreen Amin, Tarundeep Sanotra, Samiksha Kaul, Taha Bichoo, Mueen Khajwal, Rachna Garg, Vivek Barna, Abhilaksh Wazir, Sheliya Shabir and Snoundhi Jamwal, with several others joining online. The meet concluded with a vote of thanks by Archna Pandita.
