Govt to organize series of programs under National Voters’ Day

JAMMU, Jan 24: Under the theme MY Bharat MY Vote, Bharat, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, will organize a series of programs as part of the National Voters’ Day Padyatra / Sundays on Cycle – 2026 on 25 January, 2026.
This was informed by Nisar Ahmed Butt, State Director MY Bharat J&K and Ladakh here today.
Addressing a press conference, Bhat said, “The programme is a nationwide youth mobilization initiative aimed at promoting informed, ethical and participative electoral engagement, with special focus on first-time voters. The initiative seeks to transform National Voters Day into a vibrant mass movement led by youth.”
He called upon all young citizens to actively participate in the National Voters’ Day Padayatras 2026 that are being organized in different districts of J&K and Ladakh and contribute meaningfully to strengthening India’s democratic fabric.
Adding more details, Khushal Gupta, Deputy Director, MY Bharat, Udhampur said that the programme will witness the active participation of MY Bharat volunteers and first-time voters.
“Activities include padayatras or cycling events, felicitation of first-time voters, voter awareness interactions, pledge-taking ceremonies and public outreach. Youth participation in such democratic exercises is a crucial component of nation-building,” he said.
National Voter Padyatra at UTs level in Ladakh will be organized on 25/1/2026 at Leh and in J&K on 28/01/2026 at Jammu.
In Jammu, the Padyatra will start from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar at 09:00 a.m. and more than 1500 participants hailing from Colleges, Higher Education Sector, NGOs, Youth Clubs and Mahila Mandals will be participating.
In other districts, padayatras are being organized on 25/01/2026 by MY Bharat Srinagar, Doda, Udhampur and Kargil.
Remaining districts will organize the programme in between 26th January to 30th January 2026.
