JAMMU, Mar 14: The Inter-Collegiate Staff Vice-Chancellor Rolling Cricket Trophy, organized by Cluster University of Jammu, concluded today, with GGM Science College emerging as the champions after a thrilling final against SPMR College of Commerce.
The event was graced by Prof. K S Chandrasekar, Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, who was the chief guest. Brig (Retd) Anil Gupta, Member Administration of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, attended as the guest of honour. During the prize distribution ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor presented a memento to the Guest of Honour, while Dr Vinod Bakshi, Director of Physical Education and Sports, presented a bouquet. The ceremony was also attended by the Registrar, Deans of various faculties, and Principals of the constituent colleges.
Held at the JKCA Hostel Ground, Jammu, the final match saw GGM Science College winning the toss and opting to bat. They posted a competitive total of 176/9 in 20 overs. Dr Lokinder and Rajesh Bhardwaj were the top scorers with 41 runs each, while Dr Bilal added an unbeaten 17 runs. In response, SPMR College of Commerce could only manage 70/9 in their 20 overs. Nazar top-scored with 20 runs, while Ranjeet contributed 12 runs.
GGM Science College’s bowling attack, led by Dr. Rahul Kaith (4/20), Dr Bilal (3/13) and Rahul Verma (3/16), was dominant, sealing a comprehensive victory.
Dr. Bilal was named Man of the Match. Other awards included Best Fielder to Rahul Verma, Best Batsman to Gourav Gupta, Best Bowler to Dr. Rahul Kaith, and Most Enthusiastic Player to Dr Sunil Gupta, Principal of SPMR College of Commerce. The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Vinod Bakshi, whose efforts were highly appreciated.
