KATHUA, Apr 17: Government Degree College (GDC) Basohli organized a two-day T10 Cricket Tournament under the Fit India Movement, aimed at promoting physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among students and staff.
Organized by the Sports Committee of the college, the tournament featured fast-paced T10 matches and saw enthusiastic participation from four teams comprising male students and male staff.
In the opening match, Staff Team B defeated Staff Team A, while in the second match, Semester 4th & 6th team emerged victorious against Semester 2nd.
The final match was contested between Semester 4th & 6th, led by Vijay Singh (4th Semester) and Staff Team B, captained by Prof. Jasvinder Singh (HOD Physics). Batting first, the student team set a target of 84 runs. In response, Staff Team B managed 69 runs, falling short by 15 runs. Inwaz Ahmed (Semester 6th) was declared Man of the Match for his stellar all-round performance.
The event was conceptualized and coordinated by Physical Director Roshan Lal Sharma, under the patronage of Principal Dr. Sunil Gupta. Dr. Gupta appreciated the efforts of the Sports Committee, including Dr. Roshan Lal (Convener), Dr. Verinder Singh, Dr. Neha Bandral and Prof. Vishal Sharma for conducting the tournament.
The matches were enthusiastically witnessed by faculty members, including Dr. Irvinder Kour (DSW), Dr. Surya Partap Singh, Dr. Vaishno Devi, Dr. Ujhala, other staff and students.
