JAMMU, May 3: GD Goenka Public School, Jammu hosted the 5th edition of its annual Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, GD MUN 2025, with the theme ‘Truth Requires Inquisition.’ The three day conference saw participation of over 300 delegates from various schools in Jammu.
The opening ceremony on May 1 began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a captivating dance performance. The Principal, Arindam Roy Choudhury, welcomed the delegates and emphasized the importance of MUN in shaping confident and informed youth. The chief guest, Devyani Rana, stressed the need to encourage young minds to question societal norms and voice their opinions without fear, aligning with the theme of the conference.
The event featured engaging committee sessions throughout Day 2, where delegates discussed crucial global issues such as refugee rights, climate change, and the Indian Constitution.
The closing ceremony today was marked by a soulful performance by the school choir and a warm felicitation of the guest of honour, Rohini Aima, Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School.
The Best Delegation award was bagged by Jodhamal Public School. Best Delegate awards were presented to Aarav Handoo (JMPS) for Sudan in the UNHRC, Suhas Koul (KCPS) for Dharmendra Pradhan in the AIPPM, Aradhya (KCIS) for the UK in the UNCSW, Sarvagya Sharma (KCIS) for the USA in the UNSC, Reyaan Thappa (JMPS) for Russia in COP30, Shivam Sharma for Owaisi in the Lok Sabha, Sara Naseer (JMPS) in Photography and Praanya Puri (JMPS) in Journalism.
Director General Tavish Jandyal shared his reflections followed by an eloquent vote of thanks from Dean Academics, Susmita Roy Choudhury. Secretary-General, Sudaksh Raina officially closed the conference with a heartfelt address.
