GCW Gandhi Nagar to take on GWC Parade in Kabaddi final today

* YCET, GDC Poonch enter next stage in Cricket

JAMMU, Oct 5: Players continued to showcase their talent in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Championships in the discipline of Volleyball, Kabaddi and Cricket, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here today.
In Inter-collegiate Volleyball Championship for women, PG Department and GCW Gandhi Nagar smashed rivals and registered berth in the semis. Earlier in the first quarterfinal match, PG Department crushed GDC Ramnagar by 2-0 and in the second quarterfinal, GCW Gandhi Nagar registered win over GWC Udhampur by 2-0.
The matches were officiated by Amit Sharma, Amarjeet Singh, Rakesh Jasrotia, Roshan Lal Sharma, Mulkh Raj Khajuria, Manmohan Sharma and Rohit Sharma.
Among others present were Dr Sarbjeet Kour, Suman Lata, Sudhesh Kumar, Vinay Manhas and Rakesh Kumar.
In Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi Championship for women, GCW Gandhi Nagar will take on GWC Parade in the summit clash tomorrow. Earlier in the first semis, GDC Kathua lost to GCW Gandhi Nagar by 21 points, whereas in the second semifinal, GWC Parade outclassed GWC Udhampur by 27 points.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Ankush Chib, Ankush Gupta, Vishal Jamwal, Keshav Singh, Amandeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, Raki Singh and Gagan Kumar.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Cricket Championship for men, YCET and GDC Poonch outplayed rivals and entered into next stage.
In the first match, YCET thrashed GCET by 8 wickets and entered into the next stage. Batting first after winning the toss, GCET scored 123 runs by losing all wickets in 19.4 overs. Rohit Sharma was the top scorer with 30 runs, while Imtiyaz chipped in 27 runs and Anshuman made 13 runs. Shivam and Asif scored 10 runs each.
From YCET side, Usman was the pick of the bowler with 4 wickets, while Waqar and Harjinder scalped 2 wickets each. Harjot and Faizal Islam clinched one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, YCET chased the target in 18.5 overs by losing 2 wickets. Aaqib Wazir played a splendid inning of 58 runs off 44 balls, while Usman scored 40 runs and Harjinder chipped in 10 runs.
From GCET side, Shahid and Anshuman scalped one wicket each.
In the second match, which was reduced to 12 overs due to rain, GDC Poonch registered 6 wickets win over GDC Khour. Batting first, GDC Khour made paltry 55 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 12 overs. Akshay Singh chipped in 27 runs, while Gulshan Sharma made 14 runs.
From GDC Poonch side, Jahanzab and Raja Rameez scalped 2 wickets each, while Gurjit took one wicket.
In reply, GDC Poonch chased the target in 8.1 overs by losing 4 wickets, Rashiv Bakshi made 30 runs, while Amandeep scored 16 runs.
From GDC Khour side, Gulshan, Ashok, Akshay Singh and Ashish clinched one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vijay Kumar and Raj Kumar Bakshi as umpires, while Jeevanjot Singh maintained the scorecard.
The Championships were being organized under the supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
