JAMMU, Oct 4: ‘Display Your Talent’ organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded here today at University of Jammu.
Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was the chief guest on the occasion.
In his address, Prof Sanjeev Jain motivated students to strive for excellence and quality by making optimum use of their talents. In today’s hi-tech world, quality of performance also needs to be updated and so have students exhibited in this ‘Display Your Talent’, he added.
Prof Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare presented the welcome address and provided a detailed report of ‘Display Your Talent’.
Overall Champion Trophy was won by GCW Gandhi Nagar, while the runner-up trophy was clinched by Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA). Overall trophy for best student was awarded to Richa Sharma from GCW Gandhi Nagar. Overall trophy for best performance in theatricals was awarded to GCW Gandhi Nagar. Overall trophy for best performance in fine arts was shared by Rahul Sharma from GDC Kathua and Bharti Heer from The Law School, JU. Overall trophy for best performance in music was awarded to GCW Gandhi Nagar and overall trophy for best performance in quiz was awarded to Department of Geography, JU.
Former Dean Students Welfare, Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, former Co-Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee, Prof Alka Sharma and former Assistant Dean Students Welfare Dr Yudhbir Singh were awarded by Prof Sanjeev Jain in presence of Prof Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Chairman Campus Cultural Committee, Prof SK Pandita, Co-Chairman Campus Cultural Committee and Dr AR Manhas, Assistant Dean SW.
On the valedictory function, a vibrant cultural presentation was presented by the students which included Liza, Puneet Kour, Seharish, Simran, Aditi, Aakriti and Sakshi Kumari and Folk Dance team of GCW Gandhi Nagar.
Earlier, the event of Folk Dance was organized in which team of GCW, Gandhi Nagar stood first, Bharti College of Education stood second and the third position was secured by GCW Parade. Certificate of Merit was awarded to the team of SPMR College of Commerce.
Dr Suvidha Khanna was the Teacher Incharge of the event.
In Short Story Writing, the stories by Issam Sheikh from GDC Bhaderwah, Ahsan Raja Malik from Government MAM College and Nitish Kichloo from Yogananda College of Engineering were evaluated as Best Short Stories.
In Essay Writing Competition, Aarushi Anthal and Jasvir Singh from Department of Political Science, JU and Ishtyaq Ahmed from Department of Urdu, JU stood first, second and third respectively.
Dr Anupama Vohra, Associate Dean Students Welfare presented the vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer and Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor. Members of Campus Culture Committee and Students Culture Council, University of Jammu were also present on the occasion. Hemant Magotra, Ambika Thusu, Surbhi Chalotra, Radhika Sharma, Sunakshi Sharma, Kirti Sharma, Anjali Sharma, Neha did the hall management, while the programme was conducted by Sunakshi Ganotra.
