POONCH, May 6: In a thrilling finale of the 5th edition of the Poonch Premier League (PPL), Furious Predators emerged champions after defeating Haveli Chaos by 16 runs in a high-octane match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
Batting first, Furious Predators posted 152/7 in 20 overs, with Rydham Sharma top-scoring with a blistering 72, while Guri added a valuable 38 runs. Kamran Khan from Haveli Chaos delivered an exceptional spell, claiming 5 wickets for 20 runs.
In reply, Haveli Chaos managed 136/7, despite fighting innings from Farhan Khan (49) and Waseem Qureshi (44). Guri starred with the ball too, picking 4 wickets for just 14 runs, supported by Karanat Bracken with 4/34.
Guri was adjudged Man of the Match, Mannu Sharma was declared Player of the Series, Rydham Sharma won Best Batsman, and Mehboob Shaikh was named Best Bowler.
The winners received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and the championship trophy. Runners-up were awarded Rs 70,000, while third and fourth place teams received Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively with trophies.
The tournament was organised by Rahul Dravid Club Poonch under the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – My Youth, My Pride”.
SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain Bhat was chief guest, while (DySP-DR) was guest of honour. Special guests included Nirdosh Kumar Sharma, Rajinder Singh Toofan, Nargit Singh, Abdul Majid Dar, Zaheer Ahmed, Shah Aziz, Mushtaq Ahmed, Er. Saleem Banday, Syed Zakir Hussain, Ram Prakash, Aman Sharma and Prem Prakash Luthra.
The technical panel featured Davinder Dabour, Hamad Mir, Ajaz Malik, Shabir Malik, Sajad Rather, Arfan Manhas, Zulfqar Ahmed, Mohd Iqbal Malik, Mahroof Hussain, Mahi Mumtaz Khan, Syed Imran Shah, Syed Talit, Waseem, Er. Kamran Qadri, Mukthar Ahmed, Mohd Mushtaq and others. Chief Organiser Pervaiz Malik Afridi thanked all stakeholders and reiterated the tournament’s message of youth empowerment and national pride.
