JAMMU, Oct 31: Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu, team comprising of Chahat Masoom and Archita Sharma bagged first position, while, KC International School team (Oshwin Gupta and Shimona Chib) and BSF School team (Pragun Bhalwal and Apoorva Shekhar) claimed second and third positions respectively in the Debate competition on “Would the proposed Lokpal Bill eradicate corruption from the Country” organised during ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Northern Region-II, at Delhi Public School.
Principal of the school, S Sonar, presented the welcome address and threw light on the achievements made by the students in various curricular and co-curricular activities. He appreciated the contribution of POWERGRID in the growth of our economy.
Paramjit Singh, DGM, Vigilance called upon the growing buds to strive to live in a corrupt free society. He stressed on the fact that the future of country rests on the young shoulders and if these shoulders are strong enough to throw away the corrupt practices, country is bound to prosper and grow by leaps and bounds.
KR Suri, General Manager, (O&M), POWERGRID, who was the chief guest, stressed upon the use of power judiciously and help POWERGRID in maintaining a strict Grid Discipline. He stressed upon the teachers to be role models and inculcate the high moral values among the new generation of our country.
Stanley Mathews, Chief Manager (HR), POWERGRID and Neelika Arora, Assistant Professor, Central University, Jammu were the judges of the competition.
The award for Best Speaker for the motion was presented to Nayan Vashisht of Jodhamal Public School and Chahat Masoom of DPS, Jammu.
The award for Best Speaker against the motion was presented to Shimona Chib of KC International School and Archita Sharma of DPS, Jammu.
The Best Interjector award was present to Nayan Vashisht of Jodhamal Public School and Sumeet Singh of JP World School.
Among others present were Head Mistress Primary wing Meenu Gupta, teachers of DPS and other schools.
Manjari Sehgal, Head, English Department, DPS coordinated the programme.
