DODA, Dec 24: Under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25, Doda Police organized a cricket tournament at Helipad Ground, Gandoh, concluded, here today.
SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while Lov Karan, SDPO Gandoh, supervised the event as the Nodal Officer. Senior officers, including SDM Gandoh, were also present to oversee the proceedings and welcome participating teams.
SSP Mehta lauded the enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by the players and organizers. He emphasized that such sports initiatives under CAP play a crucial role in engaging youth positively, nurturing talent and channeling energy toward constructive activities. The SSP also urged young participants to actively join J&K Police’s campaign against drug abuse and other social evils, aimed at creating a peaceful and crime-free society.
A total of 16 teams from across Sub-Division Gandoh took part in the tournament. The final match was played between Walli Cricket Club, Gandoh and Lions Cricket Club, with Walli Cricket Club emerging as champions. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 15,000, along with trophies and certificates. The final match drew a large crowd, who appreciated the efforts of Doda Police in promoting youth-centric sports initiatives.
