SAMBA, June 13: In view of the ongoing severe heatwave conditions in district Samba, District Magistrate Rajesh Sharma has issued a prohibitory order banning all Dangal/Kushti (traditional wrestling) events in the district with immediate effect. The decision, made under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, aims to protect public health and safety by preventing heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke and dehydration among participants and spectators of outdoor wrestling competitions.
The order remains in force until the heatwave subsides and conditions are deemed safe for conducting such events again. Violations of this ban will invite strict legal action under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other applicable laws.
This proactive step reflects the administration’s commitment to safeguarding human life and public welfare during extreme weather conditions. The public is urged to cooperate and adhere to the directives issued by the authorities.
