UDHAMPUR, Dec 19: The two-day District Udhampur Boys & Girls Athletic Meet 2025, organised by District Udhampur Athletic Association, concluded at Subash Stadium, here today.
Anoorop Sharma, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Police Academy Udhampur, was the chief guest, while Anu Kumar, Deputy Controller Civil Defence (DSP) was the guest of honour. Ramesh Chander Mishra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur presided over the function. A total of 221 boys and girls from across the district participated in different categories, showcasing their talent and competitive spirit.
Sunil Sharma, President of the District Athletic Association, welcomed the guests and participants, briefing them about the objectives of the meet. The Chief Guest encouraged students to actively engage in sports for their overall development, while Anu Kumar highlighted the importance of civil defence and urged youth to stay away from drugs.
The competition witnessed outstanding performances across age groups. U-14 Boys 100m was won by Prabal Saini, Bhavya Gupta (II) and Taanush Anthal (III). U-14 Girls 100m winners were Arushi Sharma, Saatvi Sharma and Rohni Sharma. Taanush Anthal, Tanish Verma and Atharv Mahajan claimed the top three positions in U-14 Boys 200m. U-16 Boys 100m saw Vansh Sharma, Kavy and Manmeet on the podium, while U-16 Girls 100m winners were Banshika Katoch, Harshita and Priya Sharma. In U-16 Boys 400m, Yuvraj Singh, Nakul Sharma and Karsh Sharma excelled, and U-18 Boys 400m winners were Parveen Dogra, Sunil Singh and Bagda Savan Kishor.
The event was conducted with the support of DYSS, Police and J&K Sports Council. Amit Sharma, General Secretary of the District Athletic Association, managed the proceedings and presented the vote of thanks. Selected athletes will now represent Udhampur at UT Level Meet at University of Jammu from Dec 20-21, 2025.
