JAMMU, Dec 23: Jammu District Tennis Ball Tournament, organized by District Association for boys and girls in junior and senior categories, concluded at MA Stadium, here today.
The tournament was held under the supervision of District president Balkrishan Tickko along with others office bearers of the Association, wherein Dr Parneesh Mahajan, senior BJP leader was chief guest, whileDySP Swati Sharma, Pooja Nijhon and Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer were the guests of honour of the closing ceremony.
More than 18 teams participated in the tournament, wherein Dragon Warriors won the senior title by defeating Chack Bala Club, whereas in junior category, Banyan International School emerged winners by trouncing Legends Club.
The chief guest said that participation in sports ensures a healthy body and mind besides keeping the youth away from drugs, whereas Swati Sharma said that constructive use of time and discipline is a major characteristic of any sportsperson. “If a student plays a sport, he/she needs to show the commitment of time to be in a particular place at a particular time everyday as a part of their routine,” she asserted.
