SHOPIAN, Dec 30: The two-day District Shopian Carrom Championship culminated at Batpora Sports Stadium, drawing enthusiastic participation from over 80 players across various age groups. Organized by the District Shopian Carrom Association under the aegis of the J&K Carrom Association and the My Youth My Pride initiative of the J&K Sports Council, the championship aimed to promote talent, discipline, and sportsmanship among the youth.
The tournament featured four categories: Cadet (U-12), Sub-Junior (U-14), Junior (U-18), and Senior, for both boys and girls. Young athletes and senior players competed in spirited matches, displaying tactical skills and teamwork.
Winners included: Cadet Boys – Numan Imtiyaz Shah (1st), Eihaan Aijaz Shah (2nd), Ubaid Shaiq (3rd); Sub-Junior Boys – Shoaib Malik (1st), Zehran Rafiq (2nd), Inam-ul-Haq (3rd); Junior Boys – Shahid Imtiyaz (1st), Yasir Hameed (2nd), Mohsin Maqbool (3rd); Senior Men – Haris Gulzar (1st), Abdul Akeel (2nd), Inayat Amin (3rd). Cadet Girls – Zuha Gulzar (1st), Zehra Bashir (2nd), Sadiya Ashraf (3rd); Sub-Junior Girls – Pakeeza Farooq (1st), Aesa Javaid (2nd), Falak Farooq (3rd); Junior Girls – Rabiya Rafiq (1st), Farheen Mukhtar (2nd), Adeeba Showket (3rd); Senior Women – Falak Jan (1st), Rooh-ul-Nisa (2nd) and Nadiya Bashir (3rd).
The medal presentation was graced by Ghulam Rasool Khanday, Furqan Nazir and association members. Match officials included Tabish Imtiyaz, Mukhtar Ahmad, Owais Ahmad, Rameez Ahmad and Aaqib.
