POONCH, Dec 25: The District Poonch Taekwondo Championships 2025–26 concluded on a high note with a grand closing ceremony at the Indoor Hall, Sports Stadium, Poonch. Organised by the Taekwondo Association of District Poonch under the aegis of the J&K Taekwondo Association and recognised by the J&K Sports Council.
The closing ceremony was graced by MLA Haveli, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, as chief guest and Dr Shakeel ul Rehman as guest of honour. Special guests included Mushtaq Ahmed, Tariq Khan, Khawaja Abdul Razaq, Khurshad and Shakeela Sheikh. Tokens of honour were presented to key contributors, including Pervaiz Ahmed Malik, Imran Shah, Owais ul Din, Wasim Ahmed, Umber Ahmed, Zaheer, Shabir Malik, Sajad Rather, Shafeeq , Akber Ali Banday, Abhay Raina, Khalid and Aman Sharma, for their efforts in promoting taekwondo and youth sports.
The championship was conducted under the supervision of National Referee Ashiq Hussain, ensuring fair play. The organising team, led by Khalida Jabeen, Waqar Ahmed, Sandeep Kumar and others, managed the event efficiently. Rajesh Pangotra, President, congratulated participants and announced that medallists will represent District Poonch in the 28th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships, further boosting the growth of the sport in the region.
