POONCH, July 21: The District Poonch Taekwondo Championship 2025–26 concluded with great enthusiasm at Poonch Taekwondo Club Hall, near Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital. Organized by the District Poonch Taekwondo Association under the aegis of the Taekwondo Association of Jammu & Kashmir, the event witnessed energetic participation from schools and clubs across the region.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mohan Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Poonch, as the chief guest. He praised the efforts of the Association in channelizing youth energy into positive pursuits and emphasized the role of sports in keeping youngsters away from drug abuse.
Rajinder Singh, Taekwondo Coach and founder of Taekwondo in Poonch, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the growing success of local players on bigger stages. He expressed gratitude to the Taekwondo Association of J&K and India Taekwondo for their support.
Prominent dignitaries present included Sunil Sharma, Dr. Vikrant, Mangat Ram Sharma, Priyanka Singh, Taranpreet Kaur, Dr. Nitan Sharma, Kamalpreet Kour, and Advocate Bhanu Pratap. Priyanka Singh, President of the District Association, congratulated the winners and encouraged selected players to shine in the upcoming Union Territory-level Championship.
All matches were held under the technical supervision of Toseef Tahir, Akarshit Sudan, Hassan, Vishvas Sudan and Vishnu Raina. Himanshi Raina, Aekta Kapoor and Ranajay Gupta were named best players of the Championship for their outstanding performances. The event concluded with medal distribution and heartfelt appreciation from the guests.
