JAMMU, Jan 5: The District Poonch Hockey Championship concluded with an exciting final between Poonch Warriors HC and Poonch XI, in which Poonch Warriors Hockey Club emerged victorious by 4-3. The match saw a thrilling display of skill and determination from both teams.
For Poonch Warriors, Jagmeet scored 2 goals, while Gamanpreet and Mohd Altamash added one goal each. For Poonch XI, Mannu, Kavleen, and Matinderpal scored one goal each.
Chief Guest, Khalil Banday, District Social Welfare Officer, Poonch, and guest of honour Mohd Qasim, DYSSO Poonch, lauded the players and assured support for the promotion of hockey in the district.
The closing ceremony was conducted by Vijay Kumar, PEM, in the presence of dignitaries including Nirdosh Kumar, Ravinder Singh, Varinder Singh, Kewal Suri, Mukesh Kumar, Tanveer Dar, Prof Nitin Sharma, Ajit Verma, Matinderpal Singh, Pawan Kumar, Manjeet Singh, senior hockey players and others.
The technical panel included Harmik Singh, Vikas Sharma, Sunil Raina, Kavaldeep Singh, Navjot Singh, Jaspreet Kour, Saval Ahmed and Mohd Shoket. The tournament was organised under the guidance of Gurdeep Singh and Taran Singh, with Adv. Sanjeev Sharma serving as Organising Secretary, under the aegis of Hockey J&K and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
