KULGAM, Aug 21: The District Kulgam Rugby Championship 2025 concluded on a high note at Sheikh-ul-Alam English Medium Institute, Okey Kulgam, with thrilling matches and outstanding performances by young athletes. Organized by the District Kulgam Rugby Association under the aegis of the J&K Rugby Association and recognized by the J&K Sports Council, the event was held from August 13 to 20.
The Championship saw the participation of around 15 teams and nearly 150 players from various schools and clubs across the district. The matches, played with immense passion and sportsmanship, showcased the rising talent and enthusiasm for rugby in the region.
Sheikh-ul-Alam Institute emerged victorious in multiple categories including U-14 Boys, U-17 Girls and U-19 Boys, while Kulgam Minds School, EF Institute Ashmuji, Sports Academy Kulgam and Height Security School Kulgam also performed notably as runners-up in various divisions.
The opening and closing ceremonies were attended by school principals, sports officials and community leaders, who praised the efforts of the players and organizers. Organisers extended special thanks to the J&K Sports Council, J&K Rugby Association, District Administration, Sheikh-ul-Alam English Medium Institute and the dedicated organising committee for their crucial support in making the championship a grand success.
