District Bandipora Wushu C’ship commences

BANDIPORA, July 22: In a spirited celebration of youth, fitness and discipline, the District Bandipora Wushu Championship 2025 was formally inaugurated at Universal Education Trust School, Plan Bandipora, under the banner of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan. The event witnessed participation from over 300 young athletes, both boys and girls, representing schools and clubs across the district.
The opening ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, who lauded the initiative and stressed the importance of sports in promoting a drug-free, healthy lifestyle. He emphasized that such events not only enhance physical health but also build character, discipline, and focus among youth.
Adding significance to the occasion, Padma Shri awardee and Brand Ambassador of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, Faisal Ali Dar, inspired participants by calling the championship a “mission” towards youth empowerment and social change. Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Vice President of the District Sports Advisory Board, also shared encouraging words and reiterated support for sports-based youth development.
The championship will continue for two days with trained referees overseeing competitions across various Wushu categories. Winners will qualify to represent the district at higher levels, making this a key platform for emerging talent.
